Senior Transportation / Environmental Planner

Radin is looking for a Senior Transportation/Environmental Planner. We provide planning and engineering consulting services to the transportation market. Our offices are located in downtown Manhattan and in Newark, across the street from Newark Penn Station in New Jersey. Primary duties will include preparing planning studies/reports with a focus on regulatory compliance and technical adequacy with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA); reviewing design plans for assessing environmental impacts; applying green design principles; and coordinating with clients, stakeholders, resource agencies, and environmental and technical staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare documents, reports, presentation, technical memorandum, and other work products with a focus on regulatory compliance and technical adequacy.
  • Review design plans for potential environmental impacts and sustainable (green) applications.
  • Interface with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Oversee all aspects of a project including client contact, budget control and invoicing, scheduling, and technical analysis.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors’ degree or higher in planning, environmental studies, transportation and/or related field.
  • 8+ years of project management and/or professional related experience in a transportation consulting environment.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of NEPA, and other federal and state environmental regulations.
  • Certified planner (AICP) preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written skills; excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead a large multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent organization, schedule and budget management skills.

Transportation Planner

Primary duties will include analysis related to transportation, land use, environmental and infrastructure planning. Must have knowledge and some experience with congestion management, traffic operations, and pedestrian/bicycle planning analysis. This position may also entail conducting technical analysis for assessing environmental impacts, applying green design principles, and coordinating with clients and resource agencies.

This individual must have the ability to interact well with client management teams and must be a team player.

Responsibilities & Scope:
  • Street/highway design, vertical and horizontal alignments, and traffic engineering.
  • Site planning and development projects including roadway design, storm and sanitary sewer design, site grading and drainage design, and pavement section design.
  • Interaction with client management teams and public agency reviewers.
Qualifications:
  • BS/MS degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience in transportation, highway and street design, or closely related engineering field. Public agency experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of state regulatory agencies/processes and building codes preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Primavera, or MS Project software is a plus. Good oral and written skills. Local NY/NJ experience highly preferred.

CAD Technician

Radin is looking for a CAD Technician with rail and bus experience. We provide planning and engineering consulting services to the transportation market. Our offices are located in downtown Manhattan and in Newark, across the street from Newark Penn Station in New Jersey.

Responsibilities:
  • Read and understand terminology and symbols used in survey notes, plans, shop drawings, aerial photographs, and maps for use in developing construction drawings.
  • Understand and apply client CADD standards; accurately transfer information into construction drawings for rail system plans and infrastructure.
  • Create 2D design drawings (3D preferred) based on previous drawings, sketches, mark-ups, and field data; revise drawings based on updated field comments.
  • Assemble multi-discipline design packages for printing and electronic submissions.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience on multi-discipline projects using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD; 3D CAD experience a plus.
  • Understanding of AutoCAD and MicroStation conversions.
  • High School Diploma or GED, plus 1-2 years technical school; background in transportation services preferred.

Construction Quality Assurance Manager

Radin is seeking a Construction Quality Assurance Manager to coordinate QC/QA oversight across prime MATOC contractors and WMATA Project Management Teams in the Washington Metro Area.

Responsibilities:
  • Enforce, monitor, and document the quality management and QA practices of MATOC contractors; establish and maintain a QC/QA system with the contractor.
  • Provide weekly update reports to WMATA Project Management staff; coordinate with all prime contractors and WMATA teams to verify that the most current contract documents and standards are being used.
  • Implement required quality programs per FTA and WMATA guidelines to ensure strict compliance.
  • Prepare and complete action plans; complete audits; identify and resolve problems; reference industry standards (ASTM, etc.).
  • Validate and document methods employed by contractors without directing means and methods.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering.
  • At least 10 years of demonstrable experience in construction or transit quality management and/or assurance.
  • Extensive knowledge of the ISO certification system; bridge construction/engineering experience preferred.
  • Must pass WMATA security background check.
